Lion’s mane has a direct effect on promoting nerve growth and myelin sheath production. A daily dose of lion’s mane helps mitigate Alzheimer’s, dementia, and other memory loss-related issues. Our Lions mane liquid culture is derived from the most advanced commercial mushroom farm in the USA. HE-120 was first grown and isolated in San Diego, California, with the amazing genetic attributes, including the ability to stay whiter longer. HE-120 was found not to brown even after being stored in the refrigerator for several weeks. Heavily isolated genetic attributes are the name of the game for spore people.
We are very excited to be presenting this amazing isolation to the public for at-home cultivators. Hericium erinaceus has a crab/ seafood like texture with the ability to be used as a vegan substitute for meat. Some people prefer to dehydrate their lion’s mane and make capsules for long-term storage and a daily vitamin. Lion’s mane is so versatile, from a daily memory supplement to an amazing source of protein and essential nutrients.
HE-120 is a documented Hericium erinaceus (Lion’s Mane) culture line, recognized by its distinctive cascading, tooth-like spine structure rather than a traditional cap-and-gill formation. Unlike Psilocybe species, Lion’s Mane doesn’t produce a typical spore print in the same dark, gilled format — its spores are produced along the spine surfaces and are white in mass.
Why HE-120 Is a Popular Line
This particular line is known for consistent fruiting structure and reliable spine development, making it a dependable choice for both gourmet cultivation and educational demonstration of non-gilled basidiomycete morphology.

Growth Characteristics
Lion’s Mane is generally considered a moderate-to-fast colonizer on supplemented hardwood substrates, with fruiting bodies forming as a single dense mass of cascading spines rather than the multi-cap clusters typical of gilled species. Fruiting conditions favor cooler temperatures (60–70°F) and high humidity compared to many Psilocybe strains, making it a useful contrast species when teaching how environmental needs vary across genera.
Culinary & Educational Value
Beyond cultivation, HE-120 is frequently used in educational settings to illustrate basidiomycete diversity — its spine-based spore production stands in clear contrast to gilled or pored species, making it a memorable specimen for demonstrating the range of fruiting body structures across the fungal kingdom.
