The Texas Yellow Cap is a bright vibrant mushroom isolation. TYC aka Texas Yellow Cap is believed to originate from the southern region of the US in Corpus Christi, Texas. Commonly, most of the varieties coming from the Texas region and nearby states with cattle farms resemble Golden Teachers with a thinner cap and stem that is difficult to be told apart. Yellow caps have a distinct bright color that does not drop spores as readily at first and will remain brighter in color than their counterparts.
Comments: Texas Yellow cap aka TYC is thought to have begun circulation in the late 1990’s (1998) by an amateur mycologist who collected spores from a wild P. Cubensis Variety in southern Texas. With its yellowish- orange cap color vigorous growth to canopy, it still to this day carries the reputation to impress modern day mycology enthusiast.
Spore features of the Texas Yellow Cap
- P. Cubensis 7-12 mm oval spore shape with a dark perimeter. Capable of dropping lighter than expected spore prints and is best collected via swab.
- Slower spore dropping cycle and will typically take a few extra days to begin developing a printable spore imprint on foil.
